Ailish is fearlessly pursuing her dream of becoming a wrestling champion thanks to support from Mosaic’s Learn2Adult Coaching and our Community Access and Support team.
A love of wrestling is a family trait for Ailish, whose great-grandmother used to watch it while drinking a cup of coffee. Now, it is Ailish who watches wrestling in the early morning with a cup of coffee, after snuggling with her two cats.
Ailish is a determined young woman. “She always knows what she wants,” says her mum, Terri, “but she has trouble getting it into motion. She always feels better once she’s had a talk with someone.”
Through the Learn2Adult program, Ailish pinpointed her dream of becoming a wrestler and, with the support of Sophie, our Learn2Adult Coach, outlined the steps needed to achieve her goal. “We’ve found a gym that’s going to teach her the basics, how to roll, land, things like that. She’s started getting into the training,” says Terri. Now utilising our Community Access and Support services, Ailish is getting some extra support to help her achieve her goals.
“She doesn’t let her disability deter her, doesn’t let it get in the way. Whatever she wants, I try to help her with it and encourage her to do what makes her happy,” says Terri, “She knows what she wants, and she goes for it. She’s got no fear.”
